What is PHYSIOWizard®?
PHYSIOWIZARD® is an online assessment, triage and advice tool for musculoskeletal problems.
What is a musculoskeletal problem?
These are problems with or injuries to muscles, bones, joints and associated tissues such as tendons and ligaments, that affect your movement. They range from those that arise suddenly and are short-lived, such as fractures, sprains and strains, to lifelong conditions associated with ongoing pain and disability. They are often characterised by pain and limitation of mobility and functional ability reducing the ability to work or socialise which can have further reaching effects on mental wellbeing, and at a broader level impacts on the prosperity of communities.
Is this instead of going to my GP?
PhysioWizard® does not replace the roles of any medical profession but helps a patient avoid unnecessary appointments. Using PhysioWizard® may help you self-manage your symptoms, or it may advise a specific medical profession (eg GP, A&E, Physiotherapy). The report provided at the end of the questionnaire gives you a comprehensive summary of your problem and, if appropriate, advises on who to contact for any further advice or treatment.
Do I still need to see my GP/medical professional?
In the report of your assessment, PhysioWizard® provides advice as to whether you would benefit from further assessment by your GP or another health professional. Musculoskeletal problems can often be managed without the need to see your GP.
Why do I not need to go to see a GP or medical professional?
In the current situation, we are offering this service free to help minimise the burden on the healthcare system and help you avoid unnecessary face-to-face appointments.
Furthermore, often waiting times to see a medical professional delay the recovery from musculoskeletal problems where many can be self-manged without the need to see a GP or other medical professional. PhysioWizard® has been validated to be safe in its recommendations and, where appropriate, offers advice and exercise for you to manage your problem without the need to seek other medical help. PhysioWizard® also gives advice in the unlikely event your problem does not improve or worsens.

What does PhysioWizard® involve?
You will need to register and then complete a questionnaire including questions on your current problem, and how it affects you today, on your general health and medical history and on your daily life, and from this, a personalised report is generated with advice on what to do next.
How does PhysioWizard® work?
The line of questioning has been written by a team of experienced physiotherapists where your answer to each question will determine the line of further questioning. The end result is to replicate online as closely as possible the initial clinical review assessment. The output you receive includes advice personalised to you in a report issued on completion. Each assessment and report is unique and personalised to you.
How accurate is PhysioWizard®?
PhysioWizard® has been validated in safety and accuracy through trials. If users are unsure of the advice given or the unexpected happens PhysioWizard® provides information on what to do next. Users are advised as to where to go for more advice if needed. If you have any concerns at all, we recommend you contact your GP or NHS111.

The choice of answers does not describe my problem.
Please do not worry as there are no right or wrong answers. PhysioWizard® uses your answers to build a reflection of how you feel today. Try and select the option most relevant to you today and add additional information as the assessment guides you. If you are not sure or you do not feel the choices are relevant to you, just select 'none of these', 'other', or 'none of the above' which will be at the end of the list.

What if I have made a mistake?
The questionnaire will allow you to go back up to 3 pages to correct any mistake you think you have made, once corrected, you continue the questionnaire as normal. If you think you have made a mistake more than 3 pages prior, you will need to take a new assessment.
Can I have help answering the questionnaire?
We do not advise you to take anyone else's opinion when answering the questions. PhysioWizard®'s advice is based on the answers of how you feel, and the opinion of a third party may influence the outcome.
I have a disability: can I have help filling in the questionnaire?
If your disability does not affect your decision making and you just need a Third party to operate the questionnaire, this should be feasible, however, the third party should refrain from suggestions or decision making regarding the questions. To ensure accuracy and right advice, the answers must be yours and about the problem at the time of the assessment.
I have several problems but I am only asked about the main problem?
PhysioWizard® can only assesses one problem at a time. The complexity of multiple problems makes it difficult to determine the best outcome. If you have more than one problem, you would have to do more than one assessment. However, if you think these problems are related in any way, please contact your GP to discuss your symptoms.
I have the same problem bilaterally (both sides) but the body chart doesn’t show this.
If you have a problem similar both sides, please chose the side that affects you most. The question following the body chart will then establish if the problem is on both sides.
What if my symptoms get worse?
PhysioWizard® offers personalised advice based on information given in your answers at the time of assessment. If symptoms worsen, please contact your GP, but if you get rapidly worse and you are worried, please call NHS111 or consider going to A&E.

What happens when I am better?
You are usually deemed to have made a full recovery when you can return to all the normal duties and activities you participated in prior to your problem or injury. This usually means that you will not need any further medical intervention for this problem at this time and can resume normal activity. If you wish to increase your activity or try something new soon after having a musculoskeletal problem, it is always best to take professional advice. If you are worried or if symptoms return in the future, please visit PhysioWizard® again or discuss your problem with a medical professional.
Does the report act as a referral?
